Despite the hassle of their weight, there are few railway sleepers that match the chunky longetivity of used Dutch oak sleepers. Fantastic as edging around flower beds, they create a solid boundary that gives the impression that it's been there for years. Brian's design is almost classical in it's symetry, and simple to create. That's not of course forgetting the sweat of lifting, cutting and fixing them in place, that the photos omit !! There is of course also the issue of their treatment with creosote.
These sleepers are NOTsuitable to be used where there may be a risk of frequent skin contact or food contamination .. i.e. around children, play areas, vegetable beds etc..
